Apple Upgrades Logic Pro With Flashback Capture, New Sound Packs
Apple releases Logic Pro 11.2 and 2.2 with stem splitting upgrades, MIDI recall via Flashback Capture, and exclusive sound packs for Mac and iPad.

Apple on Thursday released Logic Pro version 11.2 for Mac and version 2.2 for iPad, delivering updates to several core production tools and expanding device support.
The update enhances the Stem Splitter tool, which now separates guitar and piano stems and handles legacy recordings and demos with greater precision. Users can export individual stems or generate submixes to omit vocals, drums or bass for remix projects.
A Flashback Capture function lets producers recover MIDI and audio even after a take has occurred. By triggering a key command or using the control bar, recordings that weren’t captured live are saved automatically when Cycle mode is active.
Logic Pro 11.2 and 2.2 include quick presets for acapella and instrumental exports, streamlining common production tasks. A submix export option isolates or removes specific track elements to support remixing workflows.
Three sound packs are available in the update. Dancefloor Rush delivers more than 400 loops and drum kits for electronic genres. Magnetic Imperfections provides analog-tape textures. The Tosin Abasi pack features signature guitar tones, amps and riffs from the progressive-metal artist.
The Learn MIDI tool, previously limited to Mac, now runs on iPad. It assigns physical controls on external MIDI hardware to software instruments and plug-ins, enabling hands-on performance and sound design on tablet devices.
Logic Pro 11.2 is a free download for existing Mac users; new users can purchase it for $199.99 via the Mac App Store or as part of Apple’s Pro Apps Bundle for Education. Logic Pro 2.2 for iPad is a free update; a subscription costs $4.99 per month or $49 per year, with a one-month trial. The Mac version requires macOS Sequoia 15.4 or later and the iPad version requires iPadOS 18.4 or later.
